====== 007 Helicopter Progress ====== ====== 3/1/2008 ====== First workshop, basically just instructed how to use the USB key, etc. ====== 3/22/2008 ====== Assigned student to bring back written requirements for project. ====== 3/29/2008 ====== Student **did** bring written requirements for project. This is the first day that something was really accomplished on the project. * The initial screen for the project was designed and implemented. * This is an important step for students, that they need to assume their own responsibility for their project. Much enthusiasm about the project was realized, when at least something was done. * Next class, student should bring more requirements/design ideas. ====== 4/26/2008 ====== Hectic day, and there were several students from the EAC class who stayed after, playing games, etc. In addition, the student's friend stays after, because they both share the same ride. Therefore, student's friend provides distraction for student and instructors. Regardless, we will attempt to mitigate this problem by - Providing student's friend with earphones - Seating student's friend on the corner machine in the back, and seating student in the front. In addition, student's project [[helicopter rescue]] was updated with more solid requirements and assignments. A plan was set forth to complete the project by late May/early June. The project should be completed ahead of time by instructors, so that less research is needed during class time. ====== 5/3/2008 ====== Went very well today, and we successfully animated the helicopter's rotating blades. We also gave the student his 007 briefcase FIXME find a link to this briefcase. ====== 5/10/2008 ====== The Mentorship program took a parallel track this week. Our student brought in his computer for a few upgrades to bring it up to speed with the newest student software image and version of Scratch, the language we’re using for his project. We ended up spending most of the session doing some hardware upgrades to his computer, with him doing most of the upgrades himself. (He has a great aptitude for it.) We got some good hardware lessons in this week, and are looking forward to getting back to his software project next week. - Bill ====== Notes ====== * Linux is not looked upon favorably, due to inability to play games like other kids have. ====== See Also ====== {{topic>007}} {{tag>007 mentorship programming project complete}}
