The Adult Earn-A-Computer program awards a computer to adults who complete a series of computer-related classes.

• The Adult Earn-A-Computer program accepts adults and youth who are too old for the children's Earn-a-Computer program.
• Students of any income level or geographic location are qualified.
• Registration for the program is $60.

To earn a computer, the student must attend a series of seven classes. Each class is two hours long. An additional make-up class is held the week after the last class. The classes cover the following topics:

1. Introduction
   • Understanding the Inside of a Computer
   • Using the Computer
     • Keyboard
     • Using the Mouse
2. Spreadsheets Spreadsheet Class, using either:
   • Microsoft Excel or
   • OpenOffice Calc, a spreadsheet program which is compatible with Microsoft Excel.
3. Word Processing, using either
   • Microsoft Word or
   • OpenOffice Writer, a word-processing program which is compatible with Microsoft Word.
4. Presentations, using either:
   • Microsoft Powerpoint or
   • OpenOffice Impress, a presentation/Powerpoint application also compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint.
5. Microsoft Internet Explorer and Internet Security
6. Email
7. Computer Set-Up

After successful completion of the program, adult students receive a complete computer system with a Microsoft operating system.
