Project Report Card

This page serves as a template for evalating a student's performance on a particular workshop project. It is to be filled out by instructors, and presented to the student at the end of a project. The goal of these report cards is to identify areas where a student excelled and areas the student needs to improve when accomplishing a project.

Project Definition

  • Was the project's goal clearly defined?
  • Was the student aware of the steps needed to accomplish the project, or did they show disinterest, confusion?

Were there distinguished accomplishments and the project's milestones clearly defined?

Performance

  • What areas did the student excel or lack in?
    • Defining the project
    • Exploring ideas for solving the project? Was the student receptive to different ideas / methods for accomplishing the project, or did student ignore suggestions blindly?
    • Implementing a solution

Behavior

  • Was the student able to maintain interest in the project, and make distinguishable progress towards the project's goal in a timely fashion? Or did the project just drift about?
  • Was the student enthusiastic about the project?
  • Did the student pay attention to the instructor?
  • Was the student helpful towards other students, or were they disruptive?
  • Was the student late to the workshop or absent on many occasions without contact?

Project Presentation

  • How did the presentation go?
  • Did the student stumble on certain parts of the presentation? What could be improved?

Summary

  • Sum up good/bad stuff.
  • Make sure to note any “resume” kinds of stuff here, and if appropriate, give instructor contact information for recommendations, etc.
