The Scratch programming tool is a new project being developed by MIT. It uses simple commands and is geared towards people new to programming. Students can create programs which draw shapes, animate pictures and play sounds, as well as respond to keyboard and mouse commands.
The Scratch community is very active, and the forums are moderated to provide a friendly, safe environment for people to post their projects and receive feedback and help from other developers.
Currently, the Scratch Help menu in Debian does not work. For help, see http://scratch.mit.edu
