This page contains a checklist of things that all volunteers should know about Bworks.

Common mission

We award refurbished computers to underserved youth, of the Shaw Neighborhood, who have completed the Earn-A-Computer program.

General Information

As we grow in the number of volunteers, we probably want to ensure that some core set of institutional knowledge is passed on to new volunteers.

Some things that come to mind:

  • know what hardware we accept as donations
  • know what services we provide
  • Who to ask when in a bind
    • FIXME We need a personal information (phone, address) document available on our protected byteworks staff group for volunteers.

Phone

  • Answering the phone
  • Taking messages / reviewing messages
  • Possible Donors

Class Information

  • Know when the classes are offered and to whom
  • Want to help with teaching? Know the course material.
  • Want to help with student machines: know the student assembly process
  • Want to help sell excess BWorks equipment: know eBay and PayPal

Shop Info

  • Four entrances / exits
