The current workshop proposal and interest form is located on the Byteworks Staff group.
It's under Files > Admin. - Forms, Plans and Procedures
It's called “Byteworks_Workshop_Proposal.odt”, and it's in Openoffice Writer .odt format.
It's recommended to use that form, but if it's not available, this wiki page can be used instead.
Create a workshop environment where students can use Byteworks' facilities to improve computer skills. Primary focus of these workshops would be to extend students' knowledge of the subjects taught as part of the Earn-A-Computer program. Exciting technologies will be taught, giving students skills they can use in the future. Students will benefit from one-on-one instruction from Byteworks volunteers who have decades of computer experience.
Proposed workshop activities are:
Students will learn the basics of computer programming while participating with instructors and other students.
See Hardware Mentorship Program
Students will assist with assembling computers used in the Earn-A-Computer program.
At least one supervisor will be present.
Saturdays, after normal kids' class, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Regular attendance is not required. However, it is strongly advised to be present promptly at the workshop's starting time. If no students are present for a workshop within ½ hour after starting time, the Byteworks workshop can be canceled and will resume on the next scheduled date. Accommadations for late attendance can be made, but Byteworks must be contacted and informed of students who will be late to a workshop.
Requests for help on certain subjects are welcome. If a student needs help on a particular technology-related subject, he/she is welcome to contact Byteworks and schedule workshop time to be assisted.
